What parents ask us most
Does WHAI record my child’s voice?
No. Speech is turned into text locally on the device. No audio is sent to our servers and none is stored. Only the recognised text of the question is processed.
Is WHAI a social network?
No. There is no interaction between users at all: no chats, no profiles, no comments, no friend lists. Your child talks to the assistant and nobody else.
What if the AI says something wrong?
AI can make mistakes, and we say so openly on the home screen. That’s why a second AI in the role of a teacher checks every answer before it appears. The parents history lets you read everything back and report an answer.
What happens with difficult questions?
WHAI doesn’t answer them. Your child gets a friendly note to talk it through with Mum, Dad or another trusted adult, and the question appears in your parents history.
What data do you store, and where?
Questions, answers and saved cards, on EU servers in line with the GDPR. We don’t sell data, run ads, or train models on your child’s content. Delete everything with one tap.
Does my child need an account?
No. Start as a guest straight away. An Apple or Google account is only needed to keep cards permanently across devices, and it belongs to the parent, not the child.
Couldn’t I just use ChatGPT or similar?
WHAI crafts an age-appropriate answer without you writing a special prompt, checks it twice, and saves it as a card your child can come back to.
